Learn to Bird 2024

 
Calling all beginner birders: Take your birding to the next level!

Join us for Learn to Bird! This hands-on experience takes you beyond the classroom, offering a unique opportunity to observe and learn about birds. Whether you’re a beginner or this is your first time to step outside your local area to bird this program is perfect for deepening your knowledge and explore beautiful habitats. This program will feature focused birding trips led by local guide, Ty Allen, as well as educational presentations by researchers and other birding experts. Meet the team!

Location: Greyson County — Sherman, TX
Dates: November 8-10, 2024

  • Start: Friday, November 8th
    • Check-in will be from 4:30 – 5:30pm at the Greyson County Court House – Annex Second Floor Assembly Room (100 W Houston St, Sherman, TX 75090)
  • End: Sunday, November 10th
    • Learn to Bird will end after lunch, around 1pm.

Cost: $325 per participant (Lodging not provided)
Registration is limited to 30 participants!

Includes:

  • Experienced birding guide and birding buddy
  • 10 hours+ of active birding, including owling at night
  • 2 hours+ of practical education seminars
  • Transportation to and from event sites**
  • Dinner (2) & Lunch (2) during the event***

Notes
Participants with health or mobility concerns should be aware that Birding with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension programs involve walking on unpaved surfaces and getting in and out of a 15-passenger van. If you find it difficult to walk over half a mile at a slow pace or to climb stairs, we encourage you to speak with our staff before registering. This will help ensure that the trip meets your needs and provides a positive learning experience for you.

**Participants are responsible for their own transportation to Greyson County Court House, regardless of where they are lodging in the area. This will be the meeting point from which we depart and return for all event sites.

***We will be able to accommodate vegetarian and gluten-free dietary restrictions. You will have the option to indicate either/both of these requirements during the registration process. We will also provide a small coffee/breakfast bar on Saturday and Sunday mornings, along with snacks to keep you going throughout the day.

Cancellation Policy

  • Before October 1st: Full refund minus a $50 processing fee
  • October 1st-October 19th: 50% refund
  • After October 19th: No refund

If we do not meet our minimum registration (10 participants), or if the event is cancelled due to circumstances beyond our control, a full refund will be given.
