Birding the Border Registration

Pick your trip. Spot amazing birds. Join the adventure.

Registration Deadline: April 10, 2026

Birding the Border gives you access to private ranches, three unique eco-regions, and incredible spring migration birding. With expert guides and small group trips, every outing is built for serious birders, casual birdwatchers, and nature lovers alike.

How Registration Works

  • Choose from 8 different trip options each day
  • Register for single-day trips or choose a track package (beginner or photography)
  • Add on shirts and other extras like Spouse of Birder registration

A note on limited availability:
Trips fill quickly and space is limited – register early to secure your preferred outings.

We rarely have many extras onsite –get yours early.

Refunds/Cancellations

**If Birding the Border 2026 is canceled for any reason, participants will receive a full refund.** All other refunds will be subject to the following policy:

  • Cancellations made before February 1, 2026 will be refunded minus a $75 service fee.
  • Cancellations made between February 2 – March 1, 2026 will be refunded half the purchase price.
  • After March 1, 2026 there will be no refunds given.

*Trips must have a minimum number of 8 participants registered. If a minimum of 8 participants is not met, participants will be reassigned to a trip with a similar habitat and similar target birds. Photography-focused trips must have a minimum of 5 participants. Participants will not be refunded or charged the cost difference if minimum number is not met and participants are reassigned.

*Schedule and locations are subject to change due to landowner access, birds, weather, and other factors that are out of our control. While we do our best to keep everything running as planned, no refunds will be given if we must change locations or schedules.

Regarding COVID-19

We are excited to host Birding the Border 2026! Birding the Border will comply with all local, state, and Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service guidelines and procedures to keep our participants safe and healthy.


Frequently Asked Questions

How many birds can I expect to see?

The number of species you might see varies by trip, habitat, and weather, but each experience gives you a great chance to build an impressive list. To get the best idea of what you can expect, check out the eBird trip lists from past years on each individual trip page.
Our Birding the Border trip recorded a high of 196 species in 2024!

Are there any mobility or terrain considerations?

Yes. Some trips include more walking than others, and certain locations may have uneven ground. You can find specific details about walking difficulty and terrain on each individual trip page.

Are meals included?

Yes! Lunch is included with every trip. Your registration also gives you access to the Welcome Dinner, the Tweets & Treats Social (dinner included), and the Birding with Extension Dinner on Saturday.
Participants can enjoy the Early Worm Coffee Bar each morning – please note this does not include a full breakfast. Light snacks are provided during each trip as well as in the afternoons during the educational seminars.
