Texas 4-H Wildlife Habitat Evaluation Program

Statement

The Texas 4-H Wildlife Habitat Evaluation Program (WHEP) is coordinated from within the Extension Wildlife and Fisheries Unit. Come join the excitement of not only learning more about but interacting with our wildlife in their natural habitats. This program educates youth from ages 8-19 years of age in wildlife biology, habitat, and habitat management. In addition, life skills such as team work, critical thinking, public speaking, and observation are underlying objectives in this youth development effort. Creating educated and involved stewards of natural resources is the long term goal. Team member trainings are offered throughout the state during the calendar year. Future WHEP activities include a summer camp and opportunities to participate in real wildlife habitat management practices. Contact Larry Hysmith, lhysmith@tamu.edu, for more information.
