Welcome
to the Texas Bass Brigade Website!
This year will be our innagural brigade camp.
This is the 6th camp coordinated by the Texas
Brigades. Other camps include the Bobwhite Brigade (2 camps focusing
on quail), Buckskin Brigade (deer focus), and Feathered Forces (quail
and turkey). The Bass Brigade will be modeled just like the other
Brigade camps.
Participants will focus on learning all about
largemouth bass, and associated aquatic organisms in Texas, and
their habitat. The curriculum will include lessons on watershed
management, natural and man-made aquatic habitats, aquatic plants,
and fish biology. There will also be interactive lessons on fishing,
photography, art and journaling. But the subliminal theme throughout
the four-day camp is the development of communication, critical
thinking, team-building and leadership skills. These skills are
important to young leaders regardless of their eventual career path.
The Texas Brigades' mission is to empower high
school youth with the necessary skills and
knowledge in wildlife and habitat conservation, land stewardship,
team-building, communication, and leadership to become ambassadors
for conservation in order to ensure a sustained wildlife legacy
for future generations. Established with the Rolling Plains Bobwhite
Brigade in 1993, the program has since expanded to five other summer
camps, plus the new Bass Brigade.
